An Acre Sown is the story of St Patrick’s (Kiltegan) Missionaries in Brazil from the time of their first going in 1962 to the present. It is a simple story of commitment “in season and out of season” set in the context of the “acre” granted them by Providence and told against the wider background of a nation’s struggle to forge its identity and save its Soul.
It is a story of ordinary heroics; of happy, run-of-the-mill success and occasional failure; of mostly (maybe instinctively) getting it right and sometimes getting it wrong; of scoring on occasion with an accuracy bordering on the professional and on other occasions because of a talent (perhaps natural) to move the goalposts!
There are no “larger than life” characters in the story, nor any “earth-moving” achievements – an acre is a small enough space and the preferred option was to make room for as many as possible of “the little ones”. Fr Jack Rodgers - end -
