With a global footprint and interests in locations including Africa, South America, USA and UK as well as in Ireland, St. Patrick’s Missionary Society is a registered charity governed by the Irish Charities Regulator. The Society operates a 24-bed Care Unit for retired missionary priests in the beautiful countryside of Kiltegan in west Co. Wicklow. The long-established Care Unit offers both long term and respite care with a drop-in service for residents living on the campus. The Unit is fully integrated in the St Patrick’s community and provides a friendly and relaxed environment for residents and healthcare professionals. We are embarking on an exciting new phase of service expansion to support more independent living for priests who require minimal assistance in order to enjoy retirement.

 

The Society is seeking (1) a Staff Nurse to cover maternity leave and (2) a Staff Nurse to work additional shifts covering annual and other types of leave. The Staff Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to the highest professional and ethical standards. They will provide holistic, person-centered care, promoting optimum independence and enhancing the quality of life for residents. These positions would suit candidates who wish to work in a warm and friendly environment which provides the highest quality of professional care through a client-centred approach.

 

The successful candidates should have:

 

  • Minimum two years’ post-registration nursing experience

  • Registered General Nursing qualification preferred

  • Full registration with NMBI

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent clinical, leadership and organisational skills

  • Genuine interest in working with the elderly

  • Previous elderly care experience is desirable

  • Right to live and work in Ireland

  • Flexibility in terms of the working week
