Easter Sunday celebrates the central tenant of our faith. Jesus rose from the dead. Two men died beside him on crosses on Good Friday, but their death was like everyone else’s. The Resurrection is outside our everyday experience, so we depend on our faith.
However, it should colour our everyday experience, inspire us to see new life where there is apparently only despair and death. We may not have to carry actual wooden crosses or be locked up in a real dark tomb by a big stone. Yet life can feel like that sometimes.
May we believe and open our hearts that with Jesus on Easter morning we can leave behind the weights and darkness that dull the light in our lives.
Alleluia.
