St Patrick’s Day is always a special day for our Missionary Society. Ninety-one years ago we were officially founded on March 17th. In the intervening years many of our priests have celebrated that day in very many different parts of the world. And the reason they were there was to spread the gospel message which St Patrick brought to Ireland nearly sixteen hundred years earlier. He is a giant in Irish history and so March 17th is Ireland’s national holiday. However, he would be surprised with some of the activities that nowadays are supposed to celebrate his legacy! St Patrick’s Missionary Society continues his example, as our patron, of spreading the gospel where it needs to be heard.
We thank all our supporters who have helped us carry out that mission for nearly 100 years. And we continue to ask your support as the next generation of St Patrick’s missionaries carries on the flame as we move through our ninth decade. Wishing you a very happy and blessed St Patrick’s Day.
