Easter Sunday 2023
Easter Sunday celebrates the central tenant of our faith. Jesus rose from the dead. Two men died beside him on crosses on Good Friday, but their death was like everyone else’s. The Resurrection is outside our everyday experience, so we depend on our faith. However, it should colour our everyday experience, inspire us to see new life where there is apparently only despair and death. We may not have to carry actual wooden crosses or be locked up in a real dark tomb by a big sto

Easter 2023
St Patrick’s, Kiltegan: After the darkness of winter, spring is here at last. Spring means, among other things, that Easter is not too far away! While nature is “springing” to new life, we await the new life of Easter. There are signs of new and fresh life all around us. It does your heart good to see signs of new life and fresh growth in God’s creation. God brings creation alive in this part of the world at this time of the year. God, also, brings new life and hope to us at

Happy St Patrick's Day
St Patrick’s Day is always a special day for our Missionary Society. Ninety-one years ago we were officially founded on March 17th. In the intervening years many of our priests have celebrated that day in very many different parts of the world. And the reason they were there was to spread the gospel message which St Patrick brought to Ireland nearly sixteen hundred years earlier. He is a giant in Irish history and so March 17th is Ireland’s national holiday. However, he would

The Creed in Slow Motion
Father Sean Doggett SPS, of the diocese of St George’s-in-Grenada, is narrating a series of short videos based on the chapters of “The Creed in Slow Motion”, by Martin Kochanski (Hodder & Stoughton 2022). The videos are produced by the diocesan Communications ministry (GNCC) and the parish group and are intended as a catechetical aid. These videos are well produced, with great charm and simplicity. Celebrating St Brigid
Today, February 1st we celebrate the feast of St Brigid. This will be celebrated on the Monday nearest February 1st. Her story goes back through the ages. For us today she epitomises all that is good about Christianity. She lived just after St Patrick. As he used the shamrock to explain who God was, she used her cross to expl

The Week of Prayer For Christian Unity, January 18th to 25th
“As we approach Christian Unity Week, we are mindful of Jesus’ greatest desire that we ‘would be one’ (John 17:21). I firmly believe that the more we connect with the earth and allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit the more we will experience a greater sense of that unity which is God’s desire for us. Through reconnecting with the earth we discover our shared origin and destiny, a common homeland. We become aware of our humanity, a shared humanity. We discover that we

January 6th 2023
Today, January 6th we celebrate one of the major Christmas feast days – The Epiphany of The Lord. It recalls the visit of the wise men (magi) who travelled from foreign lands to visit Jesus, the new-born child. They were searching for the secret of a holy and wholesome life and were led by the star to Bethlehem. Since that time, they represent the millions of ‘seekers’ who have found in Jesus Christ what their souls long for. May all those who are looking for the right path i
